MAP Education provides courses with accredited qualifications for learners aged 11-16 as part of the Leeds alternative provision framework agreement. We work with schools and other education providers to ensure that the selection of qualifications and their delivery meet the needs of the individual.
Each learner at MAP has access to a range of qualifications to suit their requirements. We currently offer Edexcel BTEC courses in Creative Media and Art & Design, as well as Edexcel Functional Skills, as shown below:
The assessment team at MAP are qualified practitioners in the fields of art and music, and combine their experience with teaching to provide a range of engaging activities. An experienced team of staff at MAP supports learners in addressing personal and social issues, working closely with schools, supporting agencies and learners’ homes – all of which increase the chances of success and enable learners to return to school or to progress on to further education.
MAP also works in partnership with students and faculty members from Leeds College of Art and Design, Leeds College of Music, Leeds Beckett and Leeds University, delivering projects aimed to enrich our students’ learning experience.
With a learner achievement track record of 87% in 2015-16, and 83% in 2014-15, our unique learning environment is designed to facilitate student achievement. Our arts studio and music studio combined accommodate up to fourteen learners a day, enabling the exploration of activities ranging from illustration and painting through to digital photography, recording techniques and music production. Learners attend MAP from 10 am until 2.40 pm, and are given a range of options in studying art, music or a combination of the two over one or several days a week, depending on their chosen courses.
